2006 Dodge Durango Limited with HEMI 5.7L
The Durango's big rig DNA is clearly indicated from the design of its Freightliner front quarter. The hood slopes sharply, Freightliner-style - from the A-pillar to the signature Dodge crosshairs grill with the big Ram's head crest - giving great forward visibility. Aft of the windshield, the body expands into a huge box â€" albeit a box with stylish curves. This is a very big vehicle. Incomprehensibly (to me, anyway) it's classified it as a mid-size in the US. If this 8-passenger, five ton plus monster is a mid-size, God save us from full size SUVs.
For 2006, a power rear liftgate and eight passenger seating are standard (in most markets). The added capacity is thanks to a newly designed 3rd row bench whose seatbacks fold 60/40. Unlike many competitors' 3rd row seats, this one can be accessed and used by full size consenting adults. When they're not in use, the seats may be folded flat to free up more cargo carrying capacity. With the 3rd seats folded flat, the Durango has 50% greater cargo capacity than a Ford Explorer (68 cu ft v 46 cu ft).

Side curtain airbags with rollover sensors that keep the air bags deployed for longer time during a rollover are an (essential) option.
