and Experience: Graduation from high school and three years of experience in automotive, diesel mechanics, and heavy equipment, or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
Must have valid Montana Driver's license.
Requires ability to perform repairs, maintenance and overhaul of heavy and light equipment, skills in the operation of diagnostic equipment, in automotive and diesel troubleshooting, and in welding, brazing, and power tool operation.
Knowledge of sign-making equipment.
Knowledge of codes and regulations, safety procedures, 2-way radio operation and basic mathematics.
Computer or electronic control skills in the operation of construction equipment.
Ability to follow detailed instructions; effectively and appropriately communicate; understand and comply with laws, regulations, policy and directives, interact effectively and appropriately with public and employees.
Must obtain a valid Montana commercial driver's license within 6 months of hire and other endorsements as mandated by law and/or policy.
At times drive on developed roads, and occasionally on rough roads, at times during rainy and windy periods and on snow and ice. Major Job Requirements: Perform various phases of maintenance, repair, and overhaul of heavy and light machinery and equipment.
Performs preventative maintenance on all vehicle's engines.
Operates and maintains shop equipment, maintains machinery in shift yard; orders parts needed for repairs; checks and repairs hydraulic and mechanical systems, does welding as needed.
Interact with landowners in a professional way.
Keeps shop orderly.
Construct, install and replace signs; contact service authorities impacted by new sign placement; perform minor sign machine maintenance.
Responsible for the operation of weed mower, mows weeds on shoulders. Minor Job Requirements and Potential Working Conditions: At times work inside a clean, safe and lit building with controlled temperature, comfortable places for resting and eating, and with nearby toilet facilities.
A considerable amount of time is spent sitting, standing and moving.
Daily climb steps and ladder, open and close doors and windows, stoop and lift objects from below the waist to above the head.
Often lift 1-15 pounds, and at times up to 75 pounds.
At times work outdoors or in other places exposing the employee to wide variations in temperature, and at times to direct sunlight, wind, rain and snow. Other Information: Preference will be given to current CDL drivers, secondary preference if CDL learners permit is obtained before interview.
While a Montana Commercial driver's license is preferred, otherwise qualified applicants are welcome to apply.
CDL must be obtained within six months of employment if qualified applicants do not currently hold one
