Responsibilities
+ Coordinate daily receiving functions through the Inventory Control position; manage inventory control functions both directly and through Inventory Control position.
+ Develop and maintain relationships with vendors to ensure they deliver high quality products at competitive prices.
+ Ensure that all orders are delivered on time by following up with suppliers that are behind schedule.
+ Monitor inventory levels and order new supplies to ensure that products are available when needed.
+ Manage employees by providing training in effective work habits and performance techniques.
+ Monitor freight costs and insurance coverage to ensure compliance with company policies.
+ Coordinate with vendors to arrange shipping schedules, methods, and pricing.
+ Coordinating with shipping companies to arrange pickup and delivery of goods
+ Oversee warehouse operations, including employee hiring and training, inventory management, and waste disposal.
+ Ensure that all customer orders are processed properly, accurately, and in a timely manner.
+ Maintain employee productivity levels and quality standards of Logistics employees.
+ Coordinate training and communication with all warehouse employees.
+ Ensure all warehouse personnel adhere to safety rules and all codes of conduct.
+ Coordinate discipline and training with Logistics Manager and Human Resources Department.
+ Coordinate maintenance of building grounds, facilities, equipment, mobile equipment, fire extinguishers, dock areas, lighting, aisle mirrors, and all other equipment.
+ Safely operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, lifting equipment, lift assist device, dock equipment, and floor cleaner.
+ Conduct Forklift Operator training and refresher training as needed.
+ Perform other related functions and duties as assigned or required.
Qualifications
Key
+ High school diploma or GED equivalent.
+ Three to five years experience in shipping and receiving in a distribution environment.
+ Basic computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, and Outlook); ability to operate basic office equipment including copier, scanner, calculator, printer, and fax.
+ Must be able to read, write, and understand English; bilingual in Spanish is a plus.
+ Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Logistics Manager/Supervisor, forklift operators, CDL drivers, customers, and office personnel.
+ Detail-oriented with the ability to multi-task and effectively manage rapidly changing priorities.
+ Self-starter that uses initiative within established policies and procedural guidelines.
+ Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
+ Ability to routinely lift up to 50 pounds multiple times per day.
+ Ability to perform functional mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, and divide).
+ Ability to adhere to Berry’s Safety, Health, and Environmental Vision, Policy, and Standards.
+ Ability to stand, sit, bend, stoop, climb, and reach multiple times per day.
+ Continuously uses arms, hands, and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip, and squeeze.
+ Ability to work in warm, humid, and cool climates inside a warehouse.
+ Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) which includes safety glasses, steel toe shoes/boots,and gloves.
+ Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, lifting equipment, lift assist device, dock equipment, and floor cleaner; maintain a forklift operator license.
+ Combination of an office and warehouse work environments; ability to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends, evenings, and overtime as needed.
