We asked current Frito-Lay drivers what frequent tasks you should expect when you come aboard, and here is what they had to say: You will safely operate a tractor/trailer (usually an automatic Volvo, international or freight liner; diesel/natural gas) and transport products to and from specified destinations in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations. This is a physical job.
This is a physically demanding job, particularly during extreme weather conditions.
You will be required to move boxes of chips weighing up to 50 pounds, the equivalent of carrying 6 gallons of water.
Sometimes, this includes handling dead stack products, where cases are stacked from the floor to the ceiling of the trailer. You can expect to work 40 to 45 hours per week, including holidays and weekends, with start times varying by route.
All routes are local with no layovers. Like the rest of our drivers, you will be responsible for pre- and post-trip truck inspections. Local Total Direct Delivery drivers are responsible for maintaining drivers daily logs, delivering products, checking them in at customer locations, obtaining signatures of receipt, picking up returns and cardboard, and completing related paperwork. This position requires a lot of walking and lifting over your head, but we believe the rewards are worth it, and our drivers agree.
