Duties: An Assistant Transportation Supervisor performs supervisory work assisting the transportation supervisor with the safe and efficient operation of buses in a school district transportation system.
The position of Assistant Transportation Supervisor differs from that of Head Bus Driver due to broader administrative and oversight responsibilities.
The work is performed under general supervision of either a Transportation Supervisor or other superior in accordance with established policies and procedures.
Supervision is exercised over the work of subordinate transportation personnel.
Performs related work as required. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma AND two (2) years of experience in motor vehicle fleet operations and one (1) year of supervisory experience. ADDITIONAL
Requirements: Possession of the following at time of appointment and during service in this classification. 1.
Class B CDL with air brake, (P), and (S) endorsements.
2. 19-A Certified Examiner certificate issued by the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (NYS DMV). NOTE: Candidates must also obtain a School Bus Driver Instructor (SBDI) certification issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED) within 18 months of appointment.
