DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary Role
Perform a variety of tasks in the operation and maintenance of wastewater collection system facilities.
Performs a variety of tasks in supervising and participating in the locating, laying, repairing, and extending underground wastewater mains and collection pipes.
Key Accountabilities
Breaks up asphalt and concrete, using pneumatic power tools for trenching and compaction.
Manually digs valve boxes and curb boxes, using shovel and digging bar.
Guides pipe sections, valves and fittings into position and holds pieces steady while worker tightens connections.
Taps into pressurized water mains.
Flares and connects copper and plastic piping.
Installs repair clamps on pressurized water mains and service lines.
Meeting NPDES permit discharge limits
Sewer main and sewer lateral maintenance and replacement inspection
Plant Operations and maintenance
Pump station monitoring and maintenance
GPS of wastewater assets for new developments
Operation of ground water system
Annual sewer main cleaning
Investigates complaints and determines corrective action per company procedure.
Operates pneumatic and/or hydraulic boring equipment.
Completes all necessary forms, sketches, field notes and uses maps and records.
Knowledge/Skills
Mechanical ability sufficient to understand the operation of pumps, valves , motors and other mechanical equipment related to operations and maintenance.
Working knowledge of distribution/collection systems.
Computer skills (SCADA experience is a plus)
Ability to work independently and on small team
Experience/Education
GED/High School graduate with vocational preparation includes an occupationally significant combination of vocational education, apprentice training, on-the- job training, and/or in-plant training or essential experience in less responsible jobs which lead to the higher job or serving in other jobs.
Wastewater experience preferred; Lab experience preferred
Certifications & Licenses
Valid drivers license required with ability to pass a motor vehicle check.
CDL B with Tanker endorsement preferred or the ability obtain within one year of hire.
Ability to pass DOT physical examination.
Work Environment
Environmental conditions including contact with wastewater, chemicals, fumes, odors and dust as a result of working with handling potentially hazardous wastewater treatment and laboratory chemicals.
Exposure to potentially harmful pathogens and gases in raw unprocessed wastewater creating potential for blood borne/airborne disease.
Electrical hazard conditions.
Exposure to inclement weather mostly of short duration

Shift: Mon-Fri, 7 am -3:30 pm
On call rotating shift
