The Montana Department of Agriculture is accepting applications for a seasonal Pesticide Container Recycling Driver,located in Helena, MT.
This is a seasonal 40 hour per week position.
Position is open until filled.
Job Overview: Position operates the pesticide container mobile recycling unit consisting of a large truck and trailer combination, generator, and grinder.
The incumbent will travel throughout the state collecting and processing plastic pesticide containers while coordinating with recycling site managers about pick-up dates and times.
This is a seasonal position that operates a March - October weather depending.
Drive, Collect, and Maintain:
Operates a medium duty, single axle diesel tractor, a 48' flatbed drop deck trailer, diesel engine powered generator, an industrial granulator and blower/separator system, a forklift, manual pallet jacks, and various hand power tools.
Maintains all assigned equipment and is responsible for arranging maintenance service intervals, tire maintenance, and any other necessary repairs.
It is expected that all but the most minimal maintenance items will be accomplished by outside professionals.
Collects prepared pesticide containers and ensures that containers are prepared correctly for recycling.
Enters recycling data into a provided tablet and keeps accurate records for travel and truck maintenance.
Physical and Environmental Demands: Repeated lifting of up to 50 pounds may be required.
Long periods of sitting will result from driving long distances throughout Montana.
Job duties performed while wearing personal protective equipment including hearing and eye protection, coveralls, and boots that can sustain pesticides and pesticide residues.
Minimum
Qualifications:
Commercial driving experience or CDL safety driving course certificate.
Experience with operating and maintaining large, heavy equipment.
One (1) year experience driving heavy truck or operating construction equipment.
Requires knowledge of highway maintenance and equipment operation including basic diesel/gasoline vehicle maintenance.
Basic math, record keeping, computer skills.
Special Requirements:
Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Hearing test (paid by the agency).
Physical (paid by the agency).
Successful applicants will be required to sign a release form which authorizes the Department to obtain the applicant’s permanent driving records.
