This position works under general direction of the Public Works Director or his or her designee, and performs routine maintenance and repairs on all City parks, recreational and waterfront grounds and facilities.
Duties include: ? Installs, maintains, repairs and removes all parks and recreation equipment such as outdoor furniture, docks and fences. ? Repairs structures and maintains grounds on athletic fields and beaches. ? Repairs and maintains all parks and recreational buildings and related structures. ? Performs additional tasks as necessary to maintain all facilities and grounds under the care of the department. ? Performs duties routinely performed by the Highway Division, as may be required, including snow plowing and snow removal. ? Performs building maintenance functions on all Parks and Recreation facilities, to include operating ice making equipment in the arenas. ? Operates trash removal vehicle, empties trash barrels and removes trash and debris from parks, fields, and lots to ensure they remain neat and tidy. ? Communicates with customers and colleagues in a courteous, respectful and helpful manner to ensure a high level of customer service and collegiality. ? Performs related work as required. Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED; and a minimum of two years of experience in general maintenance and landscape; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. SPECIAL NOTE: Must possess and maintain a valid, state issued drivers license as a condition of employment.
Within one (1) year of service, must acquire and maintain as a condition of continued employment: a state issued commercial drivers license (CDL) with airbrake endorsement.
