Chief Regional Supervisor - Road (Northern/Central Division)
Summary:
Supervise the activities of Bus Operations Management team members statewide to operate within a given timetable and budget while maintaining service quality for NJ Transit passengers.
Roles and Responsibilities:
+ Coordinates activities of Regional Supervisors, Garage Personnel, Vehicle Maintenance Department, Security Forces, and others to maintain highest quality of bus service.
+ Supervises and assigns work to Regional Supervisors.
Ensures appropriate training and conducts non-agreement employee performance appraisals.
+ Determines proper course of action in the event of accidents, emergencies, rail or bus service interruptions, or other unusual operation conduct.
Implements contingency plans to bring situation under control.
+ Controls vehicle assignments and manages Regional Supervisor vehicle fleet.
Evaluates vehicle and equipment requirements and recommends necessary changes to supervisor.
+ Evaluates manpower requirements and recommends changes to supervisor to ensure that adequate manpower is available to maintain quality of bus service.
+ Investigates and responds to passenger complaints, both written and oral.
+ Applies technical knowledge to ensure maximum usage of VMIS, Clever CAD and Radio Systems.
+ Prepares and reconciles daily reports.
+ Conducts regular staff meetings focused on increasing communication, motivates and promotes teamwork.
Provides responsive resolution and/or action to employee issues.
+ Implement a strong succession planning program to take advantage of internal talent pool.

+ Bus Operations Information Coordinator
Education, Experience, and
Qualifications:
+ High School Diploma, or equivalent.
+ Five (5) years of experience in bus operations, to include three (3) years of bus operations supervisory experience.
Knowledge and Skills:
+ Demonstrated knowledge of VMIS and/or Radio Systems required.
+ Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal and critical thinking, skills required.
+ Required proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines are required.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
+ Valid CDL driver’s license with passenger endorsement required for field assignments.

Physical Demands:
+ This is a 24/7 operation.
+ Employees in the title of Chief Regional Supervisors work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays and, special events as NJ TRANSIT operations dictate.
+ Must be willing to respond to emergencies and work extra hours.
